Shaleni McBain is the communications professional brands call when they need a story told well and people who trust it.
For ten years, she has run her own communications practice from Toronto, working with creators and small brands who needed someone to pitch their story, shape their voice and get them noticed. No one handed her a budget, a team or a mandate. She found her own clients, set the scope for every engagement, managed several accounts at once and answered for every result. Running a business on her own taught her to write to a deadline, pitch with conviction and deliver when nobody is checking.
Her core work is storytelling with a purpose. She writes press releases, media kits and pitch materials. She builds brand voice and messaging frameworks, then applies them across social, press and partnerships. She writes the partnership proposals that turn creators and small brands into real collaborations, and she keeps influencer and brand campaigns consistent from concept through launch.

She trained in print and broadcast journalism at Humber College, so she still thinks in headlines and deadlines. She studied digital media management at George Brown College, so she understands how stories move online.
Today she leads community and public voice for Tuft & Paw, a premium pet brand.
What she brings is simple. She listens first, tells the truth and makes sure a real person is always on the other end. Her writing has a dry, deadpan streak and a poet’s eye for the small moment that makes people stop scrolling and actually feel something. Audiences respond to that combination, and it is how she has built relationships across the creator ecosystem, from reality TV talent to independent creators. She has spent a decade showing that small brands can sound as sharp as big ones, and she believes the comment section is one of the most honest focus groups on earth.
If you need a communications partner who has built a business from scratch, shows up with ideas and cares about the people on the other side of the screen, Shaleni would love to hear from you.
